marketing to schools in 2018

As of the 28th May 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will become an enforceable directive enshrined in UK and EU law. It will have a huge impact on every business that markets itself to schools and teachers – as well as companies like Sprint Education that help them to do so.

In short, the GDPR sets much higher standards for how organisations obtain, use, and store personal data. The potential penalties for non-compliance are pretty eye-watering, up to €20m or 4% of global annual turnover.

We’ve been working flat out for the past 18 months to ensure that our internal processes are reconfigured in order to comply with the GDPR – and we’ve recently released a whitepaper which helps our clients to do the same.

However, we’ve also dedicated a lot of time developing and fine-tuning a whole host of new inbound marketing to schools services for this new age. Most of them are services that we’ve been offering for some time, however up until now we’ve only been able to offer them to a lucky few clients. From early next year, we’re going to be making them the cornerstone of what we do for all education businesses seeking to sell more to schools.

Here’s a quick run-down of what’s coming next year, just to whet your appetite….

1. Website or Landing Page Design and Build

Consent is a fundamental aspect of the GDPR. Therefore, your website not only needs to provide a great user experience for teacher visitors, it also needs to become a lead generating machine that will quickly grow an opt-in list of teacher subscribers.

We designed and built the Sprint Education website 100% in-house and it has helped us to grow a CRM containing 17,500 opted-in education business contacts. We understand every inch of what it takes to create a website that generates a steady stream of inbound leads for our clients, so we’ll be launching this as a new service in 2018.

This might be designing and building your business a new website from scratch, or it might be redesigning aspects of your current website to make it more inbound friendly, or it might mean creating landing pages for specific campaigns. We’ll work with you closely to understand your business’s needs before creating a tailored approach just for you.

2. Search Engine Optimisation

One of the reasons we’ve been so successful in building such a mammoth opt-in list of subscribers is that we’ve been able to ensure that when somebody searches the likes of Google’s listings for the kinds of services we offer, our website is at the top of their results.

This Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is something we manage 100% in-house and we recognise the huge value of it to growing our business. That’s why we’re making this service a central pillar of our inbound strategy service for our clients in 2018.

3. Value Asset Creation and Blogging

Why would a teacher want to receive your marketing? Until now this has been an almost rhetorical question. However, in 2018 it’s going to be the piece of your marketing puzzle that you have to solve above all else.

The key reason why 17,500 people have been happy to opt in to our marketing is that they want to stay at the cutting-edge of marketing to schools trends – and our whitepapers, blogs and infographics help them to do just that.

How do you ensure that teachers are going to want to receive your marketing? That’s the question we’ll be helping you answer in 2018 and, as part of the process, we’ll also be creating the blogs, lesson plans, and free reports that will make your marketing a delightful and unmissable addition to their inboxes.

4. Social Media Remarketing

Social Media Remarketing is a superb way to keep pulling teachers back to your website. It works by sending website visitors highly targeted social ads based upon their previous behaviour. We’ve already incorporated it into several of our clients’ strategies during 2017 and the results have been incredible.

This is going to be a big part of what we will do for you in 2018.

I hope this is enough to whet your appetite about how we’re going to help you transform your marketing in 2018. Not just so that it is fully compliant with the GDPR, but so that it achieves better results for your business than ever before.

There are several other new services that I could tell you about – including creating engaging videos for your website and social media, managing super-targeted and cost-effective postal campaigns, and creating sales enablement signatures in your CRM. However, we’ll tell you more about those in January.

2018 is going to be one heck of an exciting year. In the meantime, enjoy the holidays and raise a toast to 2017… we hope it’s been kind to you. However, trust us, 2018 is going to be better!
