I can’t believe we’ve got to shock #6 without mentioning social media once! Lots of the marketing whitepapers and infographics I’ve seen lately have been so in thrall to the razzle dazzle of social networking that they’ve talked about nothing else!
However, even if the debate around social media can get a little lost in smoke and mirrors, it still does play a vital role in your marketing to schools mix.
Our 2014 social media shock focuses on the fastest growing social network in the UK, and one that we think is particularly relevant to companies who sell to schools.
Shocking Secret #6: Pinterest is better than Twitter
I love social media. It’s essential in your marketing mix that’s for sure, but I do struggle to see the point of Twitter outside of personal tweeting.
When it comes to business why not be brave in 2014 and set up a Pinterest (or Instagram) account instead? Pinterest allows you to upload photos that represent your brand, ethos, your team members, and product shots.
If I sold training workshops to schools what would be more powerful, a Tweet saying ‘come to our next workshop’ or a selection of photos visually showing how engaging and exciting previous workshops have been? Check out our Pinterest account as an example: www.pinterest.com/sprintmail
And before I leave you, here’s a small platter of Pinterest related stats for you to think on…
1. 65% of teachers are visual learners
2. Visual data is processed 60,000 times faster by the brain than text
3. 80% of Pinterest users are female and 81% of UK teachers up to the end of Secondary School are female.
That's it for today. Guy is up next with Shocking Secret #7, and guess what? It's another Social Media shock!
